Big decisions: University

I do apologise for my recent absence on this blog, however my life has been filled with some pretty big decisions recently, the hugest of which is the fact that I have accepted an offer to study Journalism at the University of Lincoln (it's true, I've even got a hoodie that they sent me to prove it)!

For the longest time I have been torn between the universities of Lincoln and Sheffield, and after having one last look around Sheffield a couple of weeks ago, I have finally decided that Lincoln is the place for me. I'd never stepped foot in the city until last year, and I instantly fell in love with its quaint, picturesque style. The staff and students were all so lovely and accommodating that I didn't want to leave, and they even make up for the amount of hills I'll have to put up with while I'm living there.

I'll be moving out in September, and I can't wait to start a new phase of my life (I wonder if the Doctor feels like this every time he regenerates?). Although I'm dreading leaving my family, friends and good ol' Hull behind me; I don't think I'd be as excited for university if I was staying at home. There's this odd part of me that seems to think it's really important to get away from the places you've spent most of your life in, and university is a great opportunity for me to do so.

And I haven't even mentioned the course yet. As I said before, it's a Journalism course, which means I'll be learning how to write for newspapers, present the news, radio shows, improve my blogging skills (which will mean a lot for this little blog, I hope), as well as studying the ethics and law surrounding journalism too, and in the second year I'll get to work on a proper local broadcast radio show!

Okay, I'm going to stop writing now before I get carried away and tell you every little thing about university. I just wanted to update everybody and explain why I've not been very present recently, which after my exams (which start on Wednesday finish on the 16th on June) will be changing dramatically and you'll be hearing a lot more from me. Providing I haven't gone into some kind of revision stress-induced coma or something.
