Aretha, based on Caroline, is busy attempting to read Plath and Orwell, Germaine, based on Caitlin, is fixated on getting local yob Lee Rind, whilst their mother complains about 'David fucking Cameron' and constantly refers to 'dark days' that are apparently imminent and their grandfather smokes weed and comes in through the window due to his reluctance to believe in keys.
As a massive fan of Caitlin's writing, I can say that the first episode of this definitely didn't disappoint. I love it for the same reasons I love My Mad Fat Diary: there's no bullshit. It's true to life, the sisters are realistic (although I am definitely more of an Aretha by nature, I have been friends with plenty of Germaines in my teenage years) and the humour is subtle, clever and sharp.
It made for a great opening episode and I must say I can't wait for the next installment, even if it does cut straight through both the original episode and the E4+1 repeat episode of Made in Chelsea.
